Posted by: Eyonix ‘(Source) With the release of Wrath of the Lich King approaching, we wanted to provide you with some important information. In preparation for the expansion, we will be issuing a new content patch in the coming weeks. Much like the patch made available shortly before The Burning Crusade’s release, this content patch is designed to bridge current game content with that of the expansion and will contain some exciting changes and additions. We have outlined some of the larger features scheduled to release with the patch below:
WoW 3.0 Coming Soon!
WotLK Beta Patch Notes
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King: Beta
- Welcome to the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Beta Test. The list below contains information on the current available content for testing and general information. This information is subject to change. Alpha testers should note that your characters have been temporarily locked out. In a few weeks time, we will unlock these characters and you will be able to continue to level them. Please visit the Beta forums to submit feedback and discuss the expansion development with others.
Frost and Blood Death Knight
Seeing all of these videos of the different builds in action is making it even more hard to pick one. Here Jade shows us the frost tree in action as well as another blood video. Here is a quote from his blog:
WotLK Login Screen
While we’ve had some fake Wrath of the Lich King login screens before, this one is the real deal. It’s being reported on by numerous sites, and several people have confirmed its authenticity. The image itself is of a ice fortress. You can see the version, 3.0.1, along with the latest build number and date: July 15, 2008.
Many people will notice that you have to sign in via an email address. This is part of a new system that Blizzard has put into place for the Wrath beta. Essentially, you’ll have to create a new “Blizzard Account” to log into the beta. This account is separate from your retail WoW account, however you still have to have a retail WoW account and a beta key to get one. There’s not a ton of information out on the new account system they are using for this, but when we have more information on it we’ll post it.
For now, enjoy your new login screen!
WotLK New Emotes

Pet Talent Trees!
In Wrath of the Lich King, each hunter family will have its own unique skill, just as Warp Stalkers currently have Warp.
While we’ve known this since the release of the Beta patch notes, we now have some of the details, courtesy of Mania of Mania’s Arcania and Petopia.

WoW Bikers Rejoice

I know we’ve been laying the Wrath news on thick but we’re all incredibly excited, and I think most of you are, too. It’s especially difficult to restrain myself when I see things like the motorcycle you see above, which I was directed to by an acquaintance of mine that’s in the Beta. I don’t have a concrete source on the fact that these motorcycles are made by Engineers, but I’m pretty confident that’s the case. Is there anything else they could be? I suppose it’s possible that they’re strictly for quest use, but I somehow have my doubts. It looks like they put too much work into them for their role to only be for a quest or two.
The only thing that really makes me wonder if these are actually Engineering mounts or not is the fact that they’re distinct by faction. A nice touch, but I think that would make it the first Horde/Alliance division in the profession. I suppose dividing the bikes by Goblin and Gnomish Engineering wouldn’t make them as awesome looking. They’re not quite Orange County material by any means, but they’re still pretty slick. Let’s be honest though, some races riding these things will be hilarious. Biker Tauren? Really? I suppose I can see a Dwarf riding the Alliance bike, but a Male Draenei driving it would probably be the silliest thing I’ve ever seen.
Basically, what I am saying is, is that these are completely awesome no matter how absurd they may be. If you want to see the Alliance ride, check it out behind the cut.

Yes, that’s right. The license plate says PWN. And don’t worry, this is just a different camera angle. The basic shape and design of them both is largely identical besides the Horde/Alliance motif.
Mounts and Pets Get an Upgrade
Blizzard is pleased to announce a convenient upgrade to the way that mounts and vanity pets are handled in Wrath of the Lich King.
Players will be able to “learn” a mount or non-combat pet much like learning a spell, recipe, or new ability, and these creatures will then show up on a new Pet tab within the Character Info section of the interface. Players will be able to access and preview their learned mounts and vanity pets through this tab.
Once learned, the pet icon or mount icon will no longer appear in bag spaces or bank spaces. This inventory space will be made available once again for other adventuring needs. Pets can still be set to hotkeys by dragging them to the hotkey bar, much like any other spell or ability.
Lich King Beta Opt-In Now Open
You’re now able to sign up for the Wrath of the Lich King Beta!
Today we opened the Wrath of the Lich King Beta Opt-In program, which gives players a chance to win an invitation to the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King beta. For The Burning Crusade beta, we randomly invited players from the entire World of Warcraft community. With the Opt-In, our goal is to strengthen the beta-testing process by inviting only those players who have expressed active interest in participating.
Keep in mind that opting in doesn’t guarantee you’ll be selected for the beta. And players who’ve previously been promised beta access through a promotion or contest (such as by purchasing the Dell XPS M1730 World of Warcraft Edition notebook) don’t need to worry — you’ll still be entered into the beta automatically when the time comes.
To opt in to the Wrath of the Lich King beta, visit the Beta Opt-In page.
